Your Wedding Day is one of the biggest days of your life. And your bridal dance is one of the most remarkable moments that you and your guests will remember for years to come – so why not let LeRoc UK - the Modern way to mix Jive & Salsa help you make it even more special?
Our Bridal Choreographer can help you and your partner look fabulous on the dance floor, even if you have no experience and you feel like you have two left feet. So if you want to impress your guests with more than a bridal “shuffle”, read on!
What Is The LeRoc style Of Modern Jive Dancing?
The LeRoc style of Modern Jive is a very popular and increasingly fashionable partner dance. It is a smooth and stylish blend of Jive, Latin and Dirty Dancing. The great thing about Modern Jive is that even the most beginner dancer can learn a few simple moves and still look impressive. If you want to make your bridal dance look great, but don’t want the added stress of having to remember about putting your feet and arms in the right place, then Modern Jive could be your answer, as there are few rules, and if you make any errors, it is very easy to hide them.
What Would We Learn?
Of course this would be dependant on your experience and ability, but we can structure your dance around what you want. You might want to learn something basic like a series of around 4 to 6 moves, which you could repeat and also dance in any order (hence it doesn’t matter if you go wrong!). Usually you would also learn a very safe “dip” to finish your dance off with an impressive flourish and of course photo opportunity at the end!!
On the other hand, if you are the type of learner who likes to know exactly what they should be doing and when, then we can set the order of the moves so that you lock them into your memory before the big day and dance them exactly as rehearsed.
Or, if you are a bit more ambitious; willing to put in a bit more time, and want to look like a true professional, you could take the option of having us choreograph a set routine which exactly matches your choice of music. This could also include fairly basic moves, but the impressive part is that you will hit the highs and lows of your music at exactly the right times.
But What About The Dress?
No problem! Our Bridal Choreographer is experienced in teaching moves with the dress in mind, so whether it be a tight skirt that will inhibit leg movement, or a large circle skirt that will need to keep the groom at his distance, anything can work! Our Bridal Choreographer has often been seen rehearsing in secret with the Bride in her dress just to reassure her that it’s all going to be alright on the night!!
Can We Choose Our Music?
Absolutely. We recommend that you do choose your own music, as your bridal dance song should be something that is personal and special to you and your partner. As long as it has a fairly consistent four count dance beat and is not too slow, it will be easy to dance to.On the other hand, if you have no idea what song to use, we can offer you some suggestions from our library.
Popular choices include:
Love Is In The Air – John Paul Young
Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You – Boystown Gang
It Had To Be You – Harry Connick Junior
My Baby Just Cares For Me – Nina Simone
Hero - Enrigue Iglesias
You're the First, the Last, my Everything - Barry White
Sway - Michael Buble
Amazing - George Michael
Fallen - Lauryn Hill
Note that if you have chosen your music, we would like to receive a copy of it before your first lesson so that we can prepare for what type of moves to teach you.
Who Will Be Teaching Us?
Our Bridal Choreographer is Sherif, and with Elaine they will most likely be your teachers. Sherif has been teaching LeRoc for many years, and more recently specializing in our wedding packages. Sherif & Elaine have taught many bridal couples, in addition to entire bridal parties and parents, each time using different choreography ranging from the most easy to learn (and remember!) moves for novice dancers who claimed they had two left feet, right up to precise choreography that matched certain parts of the music and was danced as a cabaret style performance. We can also teach very basic Cha Cha Cha, and sometimes couples do like to start with their dance with this traditional style, before they launch into Modern Jive to modernize the dance and to surprise their audience.
We focus on the fact that your wedding dance is a very special part of your day, and that it has to be right for you. We will discuss at your first lesson what you want to achieve, and will make sure that you learn something that you are comfortable with, that is going to surprise and impress your guests, and that you are going to look back on and remember as one of the highlights of your big day.
How Much Does It Cost And What Is Involved?
You have a number of options, depending on what you want to achieve and how much time you have:Option One (the most popular option):
The LeRoc and Modern Jive Wedding Package, which consists of 5 hours of private lessons, plus a total of 4 group classes to use within 6 months at any of our regular venues. Most couples purchase one package, but you can of course choose to do more than one if you wish, or to top up the package with some single lessons as detailed in Option Two.
Total cost per package is £375, payable at or before the first lesson.
The five hours can be structured according to your preference - eg five single hours over five weeks, or over a shorter period by doing 2 x 1.5 hours and 1 x 2 hours.
Option Two:
Single private lessons at £80 per hour. This can be paid as you go, so you can decide from lesson to lesson how many more you would like to have. Note both of the above option costs assume no venue hire is applicable. To avoid such a cost having to be passed on to you, generally we would conduct the lessons at your home/s, family home, or even reception venue if possible in the latter stages of the lessons. Alternatively, depending on availability. we could conduct the lesson at our dance venue located at Saint Bonaventure's in Bishopston, Bristol, or sometimes at one of our existing class venues in the early part of an evening before our regular customers arrive.
Option Three:
Group classes (minimum of 10 persons) at any of our venues at the casual rate of £15 per person per night, Please see the classes page for details and up to date information.
Other Options:
Please contact us for information and pricing on other options to include lessons for your bridal party.
When Should We Start?
Ideally, if choosing the Wedding Package, you should work backwards six weeks from your wedding date, and schedule one hour per week, finishing on the weekend prior to your wedding. This allows for the inevitable stresses of the final week to take priority, when all dance lessons have been completed. Having said that, our experience extends from teaching an entire bridal party over a nine week period, to a couple cramming 5 hours into the two weeks before their wedding, so anything goes!!Why Choose Modern Jive For Our Wedding Dance?
The convenience of us coming to you for your lessons if that’s appropriate – organizing a wedding is time consuming and if you can save time travelling to dance classes, then that is extra time to spend on organizing the many other things you have to do in the lead up to the big day!!The experience of our Bridal Choreographer, who will make learning Modern Jive fun and stress free!
The thrill you will get from the look on your guests’ faces when they see that you can actually do more than just rock from side to side!!
